It is too exciting in the US.. but it's absolutely different excitement. It's not a cultural holiday, but there are plenty of Muslims at the University I attend (Raed's spoke here last week). Since it is the beginning of our term, it is agreat time to meet others and start community togetherness. Plus, it's a good timeto separate from the world and focus on Allah. Peace~Sallam Eid Mubarek soon. May your prayers, fast and duas be accepted. -massallama, erica aisha

I'm a liberal young man of twenty who VERY strongly opposes our intrusive occupation of your country. I know I speak for many Americans when I say that I am truly sorry for the awful things that my government has done to your country and we, the American people, are doing our best to get this idiot out of office and get someone in who represents the will of our people. I admire your perspectives and comments very much and while I don't necessarily agree with all of them, I do want to say that it is people like you that will help to change the terrible things that are occuring in the world. It isn't so exciting if you're in the US. It feels like any other boring and exhausting day.

Freedom
“We are free to be free
To make our own destiny
To shine like the sun
To become one
To hide under the moon
Under in the gloom
To run with the deer
To make worry disappear
To listen and to hear
To love and to fear
To make our minds be clear
To laugh and to cheer
To travel and to steer
In the path we have chosen
To be hot or cold or even frozen
We are free to be free
To make our own destiny
And to look back from the finish line
And to shout with joy and not to whine.”
