In Iraq, Killing is for fun

This comment was posted on my last post's thread by "Mohammed" and i didn't publish it because it's off subject, still you might want to take a look at it:

"A 'trophy' video appearing to show security guards in Baghdad randomly shooting Iraqi civilians has sparked two investigations after it was posted on the internet," the Sunday Telegraph reports. "The video has sparked concern that private security companies, which are not subject to any form of regulation either in Britain or in Iraq, could be responsible for the deaths of hundreds of innocent Iraqis."Check out link below to view video. "

end of comment.

I could recognize two of the sites, one is close to where i live and one is close to my university.

I called the White House comment line and told the lady answering the phone about this video. She didn't believe it. I told her it was for real.

It is sickening, just like the torture, secret detentions, "smart" bombs, flattening fallujah....

I could go on and on, couldn't I?

What have we become?

And I ponder the fact that Germany and Japan were liberal "democracies" at least on paper back in the 1930's.

Those are the BlackWater boys, the "engineers" hired by the US government to "help rebuild Iraq". The funny thing about then is they tend to tape everything they do, and I can say that this video isn't the worst I've seen of them by far.

The one that was probably the worst I've seen of them as a 10 min video of a BlackWater sniper and a few spoters on the roof of a building. Throughout the whole thing they sniper is firing away at a near by group of houses. After about 9 mins of killing people left and right you can hear far off gunshots, and the sniper yells out, "We're getting return fire. S**t, there's an insurgent down there." meaning that the whole time he was shooting at random people for no reason.

Bush has no right to talk about terrorism. That would be like Hilter talking about tolerating the Jews, or Bush talking about tolerating Arabs, or Bush talking about tolerating Persians, or Bush talking about tolerating black people, or Bush talking about tolerating latinos, ...

What a boring video, all I saw was what looked like an accident, a dud IED, and at the very end what might be someone shooting at a car, but you don't see who is doing the shooting, or why, it's so short at the very end, there is no context at all. This video is evidence of nothing. Maybe another hoax. I guess it's too bad the IED was a dud or this might have been a more exciting video.

Madtom, one more comment like that, disrespecting the blood of Iraqis shed for no reason, and you will follow your friend Jeffery, and please write comments that make sence would you? and what was that part about people drawning since 47 years?
i will give you a peace of advice: post a comment when your brain urges you, not when your fingers do.

Khalid, I was not making fun of anyone, but the video I saw did not contain what was advertised. I had the sound all the way up the only time I heard shooting was in the last few seconds of video, but you don't see who is doing the shooting. It could have been anyone. In the first scene that looks like a car accident, why were the other cars on the right stopped and had the doors open, how come the car doing the video drives right by?

"and what was that part about people drawning since 47 years?'

Brono said something about if something ever happened to "my people" then I would learn. I reminded him that "my people" have been suffering for the past 47 years, that "my people" die every day trying to escape the workers paradise. The get eaten by sharks drown or die of exposure, that happens when the wind sends your raft off course and instead of reaching the Florida cost, you end up floating out to sea or up the east coast to Main, or into the Gulf of Mexico, a trip that can take up to two weeks. Most people can't survive that long out on the open seas on a flimsy raft.

Hosyordady, the car was throwing grenades? at who, the trees? And I thought someone was shooting at cars, not cars shooting at other cars?

Khalid for some more information on the "my people" issue read this little piece on the up hill struggle we face everyday. You should like it as it exposes some of the hypocrisy of this administration. Believe you me that Iraq is not alone, that I come here not to cheer for the administration, or for the death of Iraqi's, nothing could be further from the truth. I come here to learn. Iraq has a unique opportunity to free itself from it's tyrant regime. I wish we had a similar opportunity, all we get are empty promises and rhetoric.
We are not so different, you and me, and the Iraqi people and the Cuban people. We have suffered much at the hands of our tyrants and the world that looks on, but does nothing to help. The only reason that I support the war is because it did away with a tyrant, and hopefully sent a message to the rest that one day they will get what's coming to them too. I don't support this administration, I voted against them twice, but they have given you a chance, more than anyone has ever given us, don't throw it away.

How dare you chastise the Americans, they are shooting at random motorists for our freedom! Put yourself in their shoes, don't you ever want to shoot people to pass the time when you are bored.

Seriously though, is there a higher quality version of this video without the music? It would be nice to hear what they are saying. The music was obviously added in later as it is seamless, even when the scene changes.

I didn't watch it, but only because I already know how horrid war is. The deceit, the killing, one a mirror to the other.

Anyway, I've got to get back to being on strike, just stopped to say hello.

Tragically, it appears in some aspects to be real. The music without question was dubbed to enhance what you call the 'fun' of killing in Iraq. A couple of Alluha Akbars and Koranic verses would not fit here I suppose. You who cry wolf do not gain any legitimacy when you make false claims and continue your misrepresentation.

Clearly, these guys in the car are shooting first and asking questions later. People who come up to close from behind are haulted from approaching any further. An apt, though potentially tragic, self-defense tool in a country in which shitheads dressed as civilians are kidnapping, threatening and killing even the very people that are sympathetic to their cause.

You who defend this element in the face of a welcoming political oppurtunity are culpable for the actions in this film. It is insulting to the innocent people killed that you now pimp them for the benifit of your cause. You have little shame.

ps You can hear what seems to be one of the passengers speaking. The accent is not American.

Also, it's evident that warnings were given. The smoke grenade and clearly shooting at the engine block are attempts to stop/warn without killing. One of the drivers, after being stopped by shooting, gets out of his car. No futher shots are fired.

The accents that I heard were Aussie. And his words are on more than one occasion "They are not stopping".

These guys are in fear of seeming 'civilians' coming within Ak or Rpg range.

I have realized my mistake, the people in the car with the video camera are the ones doing the shooting. Now I understand, I kept looking along the sides of the road looking for the shooters, that's why I just did not see what everyone else was seeing, though I have yet to see the grenade all I see is the puff of smoke on the side of the road, I am going to watch it again tonight from my better computer. Scratch my earlier comments

I saw the video several times.

It's not a trophy it's contractors using security procedures similar to US military or Iraqi Police. We all have seen the signs saying don't get closer than 100m.

All the cars that got too close and at speeds higher than theirs got shot at.
The shots where directed at the engine block and I didn’t see anyone dying or not moving. On the contrary most drivers ran out of the car looking at the damage (dumb).

It’s a war zone and the contractors working there have far better procedures than the US military. It’s not a trophy or “killing of innocents” it’s just an effort to stay alive in a messed up place where car bombs are a daily rutine.

Those contractors in the "Trophy" video were from Aegis which is a British company. With Iraq rife with VBIEDs and plenty of men willing to scatter themselves around the streets for Allah, I don't blame them for being jumpy, but I'm not going to condone nor condemn them without knowing the whole story. Of course, what do you care about that?

All you arab muslims know is misery that you inflict upon yourselves because of your backward culture and beliefs. Why does your all powerful alla need any one of you to do his killing for him? He kills just fine on his own with earthquakes and tsunamis and doesn't need your peoples help. Or maybe muslims are so insecure about their beliefs that the can't take any kind of critical talk because they know that any real analysis would show just how backward, violent, and totally lacking in any moral authority. I'm Christian and am secure in my beliefs and can take criticism of my religion without killing or even thinking about hurting the person who dared share his opinion. But maybe that is to western for a peoples trapped in a 7th century mentality. By the way, without America you wouldn't have the ability right now to criticize any one because you would have no freedom of any kind with Saddam there. Arabs prove over and over by their actions that they can not handle freedom and need a dictator to stand on their necks and control them for their own good.

..."are not subject to any form of regulation"...

Now tell me what kind of regulation the locals follow when they cut the head of captive soldiers and burn their bodies, hanging in bridges and spanking the corpses in numbers of thousands? That looks like a national program there, kill, beat, burn and hang - not necessarilly on that order... Now a BWSniper shooting armed resistance is "subject to investigation"... lol

Hope they don't come to cut our heads off next decade.
